However, we (banking fellows) have never believed that bankers need to be perceived like this and have had a couple of goes (with some success) at re-inventing what a bank could be. The problem has been that once our parent and source of funds found out what we were doing, it always went a bit pear shaped. Leaving us with the feeling that there remains unfinished business.

This time things will be different; we are in charge of our own destiny, no monolithic parent in the background calling the shots. To be honest it does make our lives a little more difficult but hey nothing ventured nothing gained! It also means that starting with a big bang is out of the question much more 'slowly, slowly catch your monkey' this time. Not necessarily a bad thing as it means that as we evolve our customers will have more opportunities to help mould our business to their needs.

Our objective in life is to provide a genuine and relevant alternative that wins back the time it takes for our customers to do financial stuff. Real life can be chaotic, colourful and exhilarating, but also overwhelming, stressful and tiring. Yet making financial transactions generally seems to make life more complicated. Our idea is that by unleashing the power of the Mobile Internet we can enable our customers to pay for things and to manage their money wherever and whenever they want to, at the same time, doing it with as little thought as turning on a light bulb. Our short hand term for this is 'Sixth Sense Banking'.

We also strongly believe that if we are always straight with our customers, treating them fairly and from a position of mutual trust (you won’t catch us making punitive or hidden charges) we will be more successful than those financial institutions that put short-term numbers first and customers second. If we understand what our customers really value and consistently deliver in a way that is relevant and engaging for them we will be successful. If customers are happy, they will stay with us longer, are more likely to use us more and will tell people how good we really are.

We are also intent on being great partners to those organisations we work with. We know perfectly well what we are good at, we also know that there is no point in re-inventing the wheel (and for that matter carrying the unnecessary cost of doing so). So, where it is appropriate, we will identify and work with world-class organisations big and small to enhance our offering. Our belief is that we should be able to deploy and make relevant cutting edge technologies better than anyone else. Customers will always come to us first to try out what’s new in the world.

We may be beginning small but we intend to be the biggest and best mobile e-commerce and banking services company in the world. We want the world to say, 'MoBank is the way we do stuff!!' Don't bet against us!
